Kano TikTok star criticizes Adam Zango after sixth divorce

Kano TikTok star G-Fresh Al-Amin has called out Kannywood actor Adam Zango after Zango divorced his sixth wife. Al-Amin described Zango’s reason for the breakup as confusing and silly.

In a TikTok video with a woman thought to be his wife, Sadiya Haruna, who spoke off-camera, Al-Amin said Zango’s claim of a genotype mismatch should not have been shared on social media. He said the excuse does not hold water.

Zango confirmed he separated from Maimuna Musa, known as Maimuna Pretty, in a social media post.

He stated that they decided to part ways after finding out they both have the AS genotype. Zango explained that this choice was to prevent the risk of having children with sickle cell anaemia.

Zango also shared a video showing his ex-wife leaving his house. He assured fans that the split was friendly and warned people against spreading false rumors about him.

G-Fresh Al-Amin’s response

Al-Amin and his wife pointed out that genotype testing should be a must before marriage. They said Zango’s explanation only made fun of the Kannywood actor.

“You shouldn’t be so uninformed as to do only an HIV test without getting a full medical checkup, including a genotype test before marriage,” they said.

They further argued that Zango should not have posted this on social media. Instead of motivating others, they believe the public sharing only invites mockery.

“You owed no one an explanation; you should have kept quiet,” the couple said.

“Even if I were in a relationship with another woman, she would have to go through a full medical checkup before anything else,” Al-Amin added.

Zango’s marriages and divorces

Zango is well-known not just for his movies and music but also for his many marriages and divorces.

His first marriage was in 2006 to Amina. They had a son named Haidar, but the reasons for their divorce are not known.

He later married Aisha from Zaria. Before their divorce, Aisha gave birth to three sons.

Zango then married his third wife, Maryam from Nasarawa State, but that marriage also ended in divorce. In 2013, just months after acting together in the film Nas, Zango married actress Maryam Yola in Lugbe, Abuja.

In 2015, he married his fifth wife, Ummul Kulsum, a Cameroonian from Ngaoundere. She had Zango’s first daughter, Murjanatu.

In 2019, Zango announced his sixth marriage to Safiya, known as Sufy, from Jega, Kebbi State. Zango reportedly said, "I am going to marry my sweetheart, Safiya, and she will be my wife till eternity. I will live with her forever."

Since 2006, all six of his marriages have ended in divorce. His marriage to Safiya Umar in April 2019 ended in divorce in 2023.

Though rumors suggest he has had more marriages, public records show six official marriages. Zango is said to have seven children in total: six boys and one girl.
