Nigerian comedian and singer, Otolorin Kehinde Peter, popularly known as Kennyblaq, is set to hit the stage this Sunday for the sixth edition of his yearly comedy concert, The Oxymoron of Kennyblaq.

The event, which has the theme ‘The Bridge’, will take place at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. Organisers say the concert will mix comedy, music, and live acts from some of Nigeria’s top entertainers.

Kennyblaq has made a name for himself as one of Nigeria’s most popular music comedians. He has carved his own space by blending stand-up comedy with live singing. Since he started The Oxymoron several years ago, the annual concert has become one of his signature events, drawing fans from across the country’s entertainment scene.

What to expect

The organisers say this year’s edition will include performances from comedians like Destalker, Akpororo, Acapella, Dexmond, Phronesis, and Mr Paul. There will be additional guest appearances throughout the night. After the main show, guests can look forward to an after-party with various DJs and hypemen.

‘The Bridge’

Ahead of the event, Kennyblaq shared that the theme shows his aim to connect people from different backgrounds through entertainment.

“‘The Bridge’ is about connection, connecting people through laughter, music, and moments they’ll never forget,” he said. “We’ve raised the bar for 6.0, and Lagos should get ready because this is going to be an amazing show like no other.”

The organisers described this year’s concert as a mix of comedy and music, aimed at creating a lively entertainment experience.

From rising comedian to entertainment brand

Kennyblaq started his comedy career in 2008 and gained fame through performances at major comedy events across Nigeria. His unique style combines music with traditional stand-up, earning him many awards and broad recognition in the industry.

In 2021, he became the first home-based West African comedian to have a comedy special licensed by Netflix, which helped him reach audiences beyond Nigeria. Over the years, The Oxymoron has welcomed some of Nigeria’s biggest names in comedy and music, becoming a staple on the national entertainment calendar. Past editions have attracted thousands of fans and featured performances from top entertainers.

The organisers say this year’s event is backed by several brands, including FirstBank, MKH Properties, Domino’s Pizza Nigeria, Cold Stone Creamery (by Eat’n’Go), Minimie, VMO Aero (powered by Bitachon), Jerold, and 1207 Foods.

The sixth edition of The Oxymoron of Kennyblaq will take place this Sunday at the Eko Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, with tickets available through approved ticketing platforms.
