Mbaoma moves to Tusker FC from Remo Stars

Striker Victor Mbaoma is on the move again. He is joining Kenyan club Tusker FC from Remo Stars. This comes just one season after returning to the Nigeria Premier Football League. PUNCH Sports Extra reports that Mbaoma has signed a one-year deal with the Kenyan Cup champions. This also leaves the chance for him to come back to the Nigerian league in the future.

“I am really delighted to be joining Tusker FC. The coach and the management presented the club’s project to me and I was attracted to it. I have also gone back to look at the history of the team and this is a winning side,” Mbaoma said after his unveiling.

Mbaoma, who is 29 years old, was the joint top scorer in the 2025/26 NPFL season with 14 goals. He is now ready to take on new challenges in Kenya. He also has experience in East African football, having played for Rwandan side APR. There, he scored 15 goals and was the league’s top scorer during the 2024/25 season.

Mbaoma brings a lot of continental experience to Tusker. He is the first player signed by the club for the 2026/27 season. Tusker head coach Julien Mette is happy to have him on board. He believes Mbaoma can add strength to the team.

“I am glad to welcome Victor to the team as our first signing. He is an experienced player who I know very well and I am sure we will make great success together,” Mette said.

Mbaoma also shared what he aims to contribute to the club. He talked about his experience in African inter-club competitions.

“I have qualified for the group stages of the Confederation Cup and the Champions League more than once, and I know what these kinds of games require. I am determined to help the team achieve such a feat because the coach impressed on me that the team wants to qualify for the group stages,” he said.

Before he left Nigeria, Mbaoma was named Remo Stars’ Player of the Season. He received a brand-new SUV from club chairman Kunle Soname for his outstanding performances. This was despite the club’s relegation.
