Sixteen-year-old Oluwakemi Adegbuyi has been named Player of the Tournament. She helped Edo Queens secure the WAFU-B title and a spot in the 2026/27 CAF Women’s Champions League. This happened after a thrilling match against Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa on Sunday.

Edo Queens won the 2026 WAFU B Women’s tournament by defeating the Ghanaian champions in a penalty shootout. The final score was 4-1 after both teams ended regulation time in a 2-2 draw.

The Nigerian champions faced a tough start when they conceded an early penalty. But they did not give up. They equalised in the 90+3rd minute, forcing the match into penalties, where they showed great composure by winning 4-1.

Adegbuyi is part of Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team. She was in great form during the CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU-B qualifiers, scoring two important goals in Edo Queens’ 3-1 win against ASEC Mimosas.

She scored in her first match and added another goal in her second game. Her impressive performances earned her the Golden Ball award as the tournament’s best player.

Adegbuyi’s success follows a fantastic 2025/26 season with FC Robo Queens. She scored 11 goals in the NWFL Premiership regular season and Super Six playoffs.

Her great performance also won her the NWFL Premiership Player of The Season award. Now, she has added the WAFU-B Player of the Tournament title to her list of achievements while helping Edo Queens qualify for the 2026/27 CAF Women’s Champions League.

She is set to be one of the stars at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, which runs from October 17 to November 7, 2026.
