Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika was outstanding as Eintracht Frankfurt crushed SC St. Tönis eleven-nil in their first match of the 2026/27 season. This win marked the largest victory in the club’s DFB-Pokal history. Onyedika earned a 9.1 rating on SofaScore as Frankfurt dominated the match from the beginning on Friday.

Only three of the 32 players had better ratings than Onyedika during the game. Jonathan Burkardt, Can Uzun, and Robin Koch outperformed him. Burkardt scored three goals and assisted two others, earning a perfect 10.0 rating. Uzun scored twice and provided three assists and also received a perfect rating. Koch, who is a center-back, scored one goal and finished with a rating of 9.3.

Frankfurt quickly took control, leading two-nil within the first ten minutes. Burkardt scored with a header in the fourth minute, and Koch doubled the lead in the 10th minute. Ayoube Amaimouni scored the third goal in the 17th minute. Burkardt then struck again in the 29th minute, and Uzun scored twice in two minutes just before the half-hour mark.

Burkardt completed his hat-trick in the forty-first minute. Goals from Elias Baum, Younes Ebnoutalib, and Mario Götze brought the score to 10-0 at halftime, which is the highest score at half-time in DFB-Pokal history. Farès Chaïbi added an 11th goal in the 87th minute to finish the rout. Coach Hütter used the last minutes to give young players Jeremiah Maluze and Malik Pimpong their first match experience.

Onyedika played the full 90 minutes as Frankfurt's defensive midfielder. His role was not about scoring but about protecting the defense and helping the team move the ball forward. This allowed players like Burkardt and Uzun to attack freely.

Onyedika joined Frankfurt from Club Brugge this month, signing a contract that lasts until 2031. He came to Germany with 24 Champions League appearances and four seasons of regular play in Belgium.

This victory sends Frankfurt into the second round of the DFB-Pokal and gives the Nigerian midfielder a strong start at his new club.
