Osimhen and Haaland Are the Best in the Box, Jesus

Portugal's coach Jorge Jesus has named Victor Osimhen, the 2023 African Player of the Year, and Manchester City's Erling Haaland as the strongest players in the world when it comes to the penalty area, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Jesus made this statement when discussing Haaland's impact on Portugal's UEFA Nations League match against Norway on Sunday. The game ended 2-1 in favor of Portugal at the Ullevaal Stadium in Oslo.

“Haaland is the most physically and technically powerful player inside the box,” Jesus said.

“Outside the area, he isn’t quite as dominant, even though he is fast. But inside the box, for me, he and Osimhen are the strongest in the world.”

Haaland scored Norway’s only goal in the match. The 26-year-old has scored 65 goals in 57 games for Norway.

Both forwards share important qualities. They are strong, dominate in the air, are deadly finishers, and show great mental strength when the pressure is on.

Haaland has a better goal record, having scored 371 goals for club and country. Osimhen has scored 214 goals so far.

In terms of fitness, the two players are different. Osimhen has faced many injuries throughout his career and is currently out due to another injury. On the other hand, Haaland usually stays fit and available for matches. He continues to score goals consistently across Europe.

Even with their differences, both Osimhen and Haaland are world-class players. They are likely to be remembered as two of the top strikers of their time.
