Ramsey Nouah: Discipline is as Important as Talent for Success

Veteran Nollywood actor Ramsey Nouah believes that talent alone cannot build a successful career. He says discipline and consistency are what keep you successful in the long run.

In an interview shared on Instagram on Tuesday, the 55-year-old actor reflected on his over 30 years in the film industry. He noted that many people confuse fame with success without seeing the hard work that goes on behind the scenes.

"I’ve come to know and learn that talent is not enough. Discipline is what actually keeps you consistent when inspiration fails you," Nouah said.

Nouah has built a successful career as an actor, director, and producer. He mentioned that many only see the glamour that comes with fame and ignore the sacrifices needed to get there.

"A lot of people assume that success is like giving, but it’s not. They never see the work, the effort, the doubts and everything behind the scenes," he explained.

"They usually don’t see it, and they always think that when you’re famous, you’re successful already. That’s what it means, that’s what it takes."

When asked whether it is harder to achieve success or maintain it, Nouah emphasized that consistency is more important than just achieving success once.

"Success is a given, but it can happen just once. Consistency is what really matters, consistency. And for you to be consistent, you need discipline," he added.

Nouah is seen as one of Nollywood’s most accomplished actors, with a career that spans over 30 years.

Aside from acting, he has made a name for himself as a filmmaker. He has directed and produced acclaimed projects like Living in Bondage and has starred in productions such as Netflix’s Blood Sisters.
