Referee injured while trying to separate players in a match

Female referee Mathilde Demoncay got a concussion after she fell while trying to break up a fight during a friendly match. The game was between French club Metz and Dutch team Fortuna Sittard.

According to BBC Sport, the incident happened in the 40th minute. Players from both teams were involved in a shirt-pulling incident that led to rising tensions.

As the disagreement grew, several players rushed in, turning it into a brawl.

Demoncay jumped in to restore order but got caught in the middle of the clash and fell hard to the ground.

She lay on the pitch for several minutes, holding her arm. Assistant referees, security, and medical staff quickly came over to check on her and ease the situation.

After getting treatment, the 26-year-old returned to her role as assistant referee when the game restarted.

But she could not continue after halftime and had to be replaced for the rest of the match.

The game went on, with Metz winning 3-1 against Fortuna Sittard.

This incident shows the dangers referees face when trying to manage heated moments in football matches. Referees often have to step in during physical confrontations between players.
