US Supports England for World Cup Victory

The White House is backing England to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This comes after the United States was knocked out of the tournament.

Andrew Giuliani, who represents US President Donald Trump on World Cup issues, said England would be a fitting champion. He made these comments after the US team crashed out.

In an interview with the Daily Mail on Monday, Giuliani said, “If the United States can’t win on our 250th birthday, then a great storyline would be the English coming to America and winning during our anniversary celebrations.”

He added, “It’s been 60 years of hurt, I gather, for England, so that would be a beautiful victory for them if they won the tournament.” Giuliani believes England has a strong chance, saying, “I do absolutely think England can go all the way. They are one of the top teams left now.”

Giuliani also mentioned that Trump has been watching England captain Harry Kane’s performances in the tournament. He called Kane one of the key players who could help the Three Lions win the title.

Giuliani shared a memory of playing golf with Trump and former England captain Wayne Rooney. He noted that the US president has a strong interest in football.

The comments came after Kane revealed he played golf with Trump in Florida in late 2024. Kane described the meeting as “a pretty surreal experience.” He praised Trump’s golfing skills, saying, “I hope I can play golf as good as him when I’m his age.”

England is aiming for their first World Cup title since 1966. Their quest for a second title has led them to face a tough challenge.

England will play against defending champions Argentina in the semi-final at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Wednesday. The Three Lions reached the semi-finals after beating Norway 2-1. Argentina, inspired by Lionel Messi, defeated Switzerland 3-1 to secure their spot. The winner of this match will go on to face either France or Spain in the final on Sunday.
