The new Interim Sole Administrator of Wikki Tourists FC, Haruna Bako, has asked the club’s players and coaches to stay focused as they get ready for the 2026/27 Nigeria National League season.
Bako made this call during a visit to the team's training session at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi. The players are currently being assessed and selected for the upcoming season.
The selection process aims to find the best players to represent Wikki Tourists FC in the Nigeria National League.
While speaking to the players and staff, Bako said he wanted to meet the team after his recent appointment.
"Our collective responsibility is to ensure that Wikki Tourists FC secures an immediate return to the Nigeria Premier Football League. This goal can only be achieved through hard work, discipline, unity and total commitment from everyone involved," he said.
He also told the technical crew to be fair and professional during the selection process.
"I urge the technical crew to ensure that only the best and most deserving players are selected to wear the colours of Wikki Tourists FC in the new season. Merit must remain our guiding principle," Bako added.
Bala Abubakar, the club’s Technical Adviser, spoke for the team and assured Bako of the coaches' commitment.
"We appreciate the confidence reposed in us and assure you that we will work diligently to build a competitive team capable of returning Wikki Tourists FC to the NPFL," Abubakar said.
The team’s captain, Yusuf Mohammed, also shared the players’ readiness to give their best.
"On behalf of the players, I assure you of our determination and commitment. We will continue to work hard and do everything possible to ensure Wikki Tourists FC regains its place in the Nigeria Premier Football League," he said.
