Super Eagles midfielder Alhassan Yusuf returned to club football as New England Revolution played a goalless draw with Toronto FC in their MLS match at Gillette Stadium.
Yusuf made his 15th appearance in the MLS this season. He started in his usual deep-lying midfield position and had a solid game for the Revs.
The 26-year-old had an impressive 94 percent pass completion rate, made 75 touches, sent eight passes into the final third, and created one chance in his 86 minutes on the field.
His performance earned him a 6.9 rating from Sofascore. He helped New England Revolution control much of the game, but they could not score.
This match was Yusuf's first club game since he scored two goals for Nigeria in their Unity Cup final win against Jamaica in May.
New England had several chances to score. Griffin Yow came closest in the first half, but Toronto's goalkeeper Luka Gavran made a great save to keep the score level.
After halftime, both teams continued to press for a goal, but neither found the back of the net as the match ended 0-0.
With this result, New England Revolution is now fourth in the MLS standings. The Revs will face Atlanta United in their next game on Sunday.
