Nigerian sprint star Kayinsola Ajayi will be back in action at the Diamond League on Sunday. He will compete in the men’s 100m at the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Silesia, Poland.

This event is the second to last leg of the Road to the Final series. It follows the Athletissima meeting in Lausanne, which took place on Friday.

Ajayi will race against top athletes like world champion Oblique Seville, Olympic champion Andre De Grasse, and Americans Christian Coleman and Kenneth Bednarek. He will also face Jamaica’s Ackeem Blake and South Africa’s Akani Simbine.

The Nigerian sprinter will be looking to renew his rivalry with Commonwealth Games champion Emmanuel Eseme from Cameroon. Eseme recently beat Ajayi in Glasgow.

Ajayi is having an amazing season. He has made a name for himself among the world’s best young sprinters.

The 21-year-old broke Olusoji Fasuba’s 20-year-old Nigerian 100m record of 9.85 seconds in May. He ran 9.84 seconds at the 2026 NCAA Division I East First Round in the United States.

After this, he won the NCAA outdoor 100m title. He has matched his national record twice and has won two Diamond League races this season.

His great season continued at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where he won a bronze medal in the men’s 100m.

Ajayi, who studies at Auburn University, announced on Thursday that he will skip his final year of college eligibility after three seasons. He is now ready to start his professional career with Adidas.

“New era. I am grateful to God to finally announce that I am officially starting the next chapter of my journey, continuing my professional track and field career with Adidas,” Ajayi shared on X.

He signed a Name, Image and Likeness deal with Adidas back in April 2025 while competing for Auburn.

This race in Silesia is one of Ajayi’s last chances to earn points before the Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels on September 4-5. He aims to finish his first season as a professional with another strong showing.
