The United States, Mexico, and Canada, co-hosts of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, are all out of the tournament. This happened after the USA lost 4-1 to Belgium on Monday in Seattle.

The US exit marks a tough tournament for all three hosts. They each made it to the knockout stage but failed to reach the quarter-finals.

Canada was the first to go home. They lost 3-0 to Morocco in the Round of 16 on Saturday, July 4. Azzedine Ounahi from Morocco scored twice, and Soufiane Rahimi added a late goal to seal the win.

Injuries also affected Canada, especially star winger Alphonso Davies, who could not perform at his best.

Next, Mexico played on Sunday. They lost 3-2 to England at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City in front of over 80,000 fans.

Jude Bellingham scored two quick goals in the first half. Harry Kane also scored from a penalty after England went down to 10 men. This loss ended Mexico's chance for a quarter-final spot, which they last reached when they hosted the tournament in 1986.

On Monday, the United States faced Belgium. The match ended with Belgium winning 4-1 at Lumen Field in Seattle. The game had its own drama, with a red card against US forward Folarin Balogun and comments from US President Donald Trump adding to the tension.

The 2026 World Cup is unique as it is the first to be co-hosted by three countries. It also features an expanded format with 48 teams.

The tournament kicked off on June 11 and is taking place in 16 cities: 11 in the United States, three in Mexico, and two in Canada. The final is set for July 19.

With all three co-hosts out, the quarter-finals will now feature only teams that did not host. These include Morocco, France, Norway, Spain, Belgium, England, Argentina, and either Egypt or Switzerland and Colombia, with the last pairings still to be decided.
