DJ Cuppy Gets Daily Marriage Proposals

Florence Otedola, known to many as DJ Cuppy, has shared that she gets marriage proposals every day.

Cuppy talked about this during an interview with Marie Claire, where she also discussed her education, career, and charity work. This interview was published on Thursday.

The musician has built a strong academic background. She has degrees from New York University, the University of Oxford, and King’s College London. She is also looking to get another qualification soon.

While discussing her choice to keep studying, Cuppy jokingly said that her certificates are a way to respond to her grandmother's questions about marriage.

“I call it avoidance of marriage.

“Every time my grandma asks, ‘Where’s your husband?’, I show her a new certificate,” she said.

Cuppy mentioned that marriage proposals come to her in plenty.

“I get marriage proposals every day. And I’m not even talking about fans.

“Everyone is apparently trying to help me when I have not asked to be helped,” she said.

Outside her music career, Cuppy has a deep interest in education and academics.

She shared that her quest for knowledge is linked to her wish to better understand the fields she works in.

“With entertainment, I have never just wanted to participate.

“I want to understand who controls what and learn as much about their processes as possible,” she said.

Her educational path has taken her to some of the top universities worldwide, including New York University and the University of Oxford.

She also has a degree from King’s College London and is thinking about pursuing further studies.

Cuppy also talked about her relationship with her father, billionaire Femi Otedola. She noted that her growing fame has sometimes changed how people see him.

She recalled a time when her father told her someone asked to take a picture with him at an airport because they recognized him as “Cuppy’s dad.”

“Recently, my dad told me that someone stopped him at the airport to take a picture because they recognised him as ‘Cuppy’s dad’,” she said.

This moment made her feel proud.

“It made me feel good because normally, I’m Femi’s daughter, but on that day, to that person, he was my dad.”

Cuppy also spoke a lot about her charity work. She explained the difference between charity and philanthropy.

According to Cuppy, charity is usually about giving, while philanthropy should aim to create long-term solutions to social issues.

“Charity is just giving because you want to,” she explained.

“Being a philanthropist, though, is about making a lasting difference. It’s about long-lasting results.”

When it comes to the question about marriage, Cuppy seems to have found her funny response, another degree.

“I call it avoidance of marriage,” she said.
