The management of popular Fuji musician Kollington Ayinla has denied claims online that the singer has died.
According to Tribune Online, the denial was in a statement released on Saturday. Shamsudeen Ilori signed the statement on behalf of the family and the HSKA Foundation.
The statement called the reports false, harmful, and misleading.
“Our attention has been drawn to a malicious and unfounded rumour going around on the internet that Kollington Ayinla, Fuji Authority, has passed away,” the statement said.
The management confirmed that the veteran musician, known as Kebe-n-Kwara, is alive and healthy.
“Alhaji Kollington Ayinla is alive, well, and in good health. Baba is currently enjoying himself, surrounded by family and close friends,” the statement added.
False Rumours
The statement mentioned that the rumour was made up by people looking for attention and to increase online traffic.
The management also asked the public to check information before sharing it and warned against spreading unverified news on social media.
“Spreading false death news is not content, it’s wickedness,” the statement said.
The statement went on to warn that those who created or shared the false news could face legal trouble.
This is not the first time the Fuji musician has had to deny death rumours.
In 2024, he publicly rejected a similar claim while he was being treated at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) due to a health issue.
Born Abdulrasaq Kolawole Ilori, Kollington Ayinla is seen as one of the pioneers of Fuji music and remains one of the genre’s most influential figures.
