Super Eagles forward Moses Usor had a scare with an injury during LASK’s 4-0 win over Slovan Bratislava in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. This happened just over a week before Nigeria plays against Tanzania.
Usor left the match in the 75th minute due to a reported injury. There is no clear information on how serious the injury is or how long he might be sidelined. Now, everyone is waiting for LASK to assess his condition.
The 24-year-old played a key role earlier in the match. He took the corner kick that led to Kasper Jørgensen's header for the first goal in the 19th minute at the Raiffeisen Arena in Linz. Jørgensen scored again, and Samuel Adeniran added the fourth goal.
This victory was LASK’s second in four league-phase matches, bringing them to 15th place with six points. Slovan Bratislava, who had no fans in attendance due to a UEFA punishment, has lost all four of their matches. LASK will next face Bodø/Glimt on Tuesday, November 24.
The timing of Usor’s injury is not great for coach Eric Chelle. His team will host Tanzania in Uyo on Friday, November 13, for the AFCON qualifiers. They will then travel to Dar es Salaam for the return leg on Tuesday, November 17.
Chelle is expected to announce his squad in the coming days. Currently, Nigeria has three points from two games and sits behind leaders Guinea-Bissau, who have six points.
Usor is one of the new players in the national team. He scored the winning goal on his debut off the bench against Madagascar in Uyo on September 25. Last season, he netted 15 goals and provided five assists in 35 competitive matches for LASK.
