The race for the Super Lig Golden Boot in the 2026/27 season is heating up. New strikers are ready to take on Victor Osimhen and Paul Onuachu, who have won the last two awards. ABIODUN ADEWALE reports.

Victor Osimhen was the league's top scorer in the 2024/25 season with 26 goals and five assists. He finished the season with an impressive total of 37 goals and eight assists in 41 matches across all competitions.

Last season, Osimhen lost the title to his fellow Nigerian Paul Onuachu and Uzbekistan's Eldor Shomurodov. Despite injury issues, he still scored 22 goals and made eight assists in 33 games for Galatasaray.

Osimhen is aiming to win the Super Lig title for the third time in a row. He also wants to make an impact in the Champions League this season.

Galatasaray will kick off their season against newly promoted Corum on Friday.

Paul Onuachu and Eldor Shomurodov both won the Golden Boot last season with 22 goals each.

Now that Mohamed Salah has joined Trabzonspor, Onuachu may have a good chance of scoring more goals. But Salah is also known for his goal-scoring ability.

Their combined efforts should help Trabzonspor make a serious title challenge.

Trabzonspor's first match is away against Kasimpasa on Saturday.

Salah comes to Turkey after nine years at Liverpool. During his time there, he scored 257 goals and provided 123 assists in 442 matches across all competitions.

With Salah's arrival, the last two Golden Boot winners will face tough competition. In his last two seasons in England, Salah scored 46 goals and had 33 assists in 93 games across all competitions.

Lukaku is also set to join title contenders Fenerbahce from Napoli, just like Osimhen did before.

After two seasons in Napoli, Lukaku has parted ways with them. He scored only 15 goals and made 11 assists in all competitions during his time there. His second season was difficult due to injuries, limiting him to just seven matches.

The Belgian striker hopes to find his form again after performing well at the World Cup with the Red Devils.
