Osimhen is a top backup choice for Barcelona

Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen is now one of Barcelona’s main backup transfer targets. This is in case the Spanish champions cannot sign Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez this summer, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

Barcelona wants to boost head coach Hansi Flick’s attack for the new season. Álvarez is still their first choice. But talks have become tough, pushing Barcelona to consider other options.

Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona made an initial offer of €100 million for the Argentinian star. However, Atlético Madrid turned it down. They want €120 million plus a high-profile player in the deal.

The Blaugrana are not ready to meet these demands, putting the transfer on hold. Club officials are now looking at other strikers who can lead the attack next season.

Osimhen is seen as one of their best alternatives if the move for Álvarez does not work out. The Nigerian international is highly regarded by the club for his impressive goal-scoring record and his style as a traditional center-forward.

After moving permanently from Napoli to Galatasaray for €75 million in 2025, Osimhen had another great season. He has become one of the most wanted strikers in Europe.

Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martínez is also being discussed within Barcelona. But his contract situation may make a deal hard to achieve.

Brazilian forward João Pedro was once seen as a great fit for Flick’s system. But now, he is a more complicated option as weeks go by.

Striker Serhou Guirassy from Borussia Dortmund is still on Barcelona’s list. Part of the interest comes from a release clause that only a few top European clubs can activate, even though Dortmund wants to keep him.

England captain Harry Kane is another name mentioned as a possible option. But the Bayern Munich striker seems settled in Germany, and the money needed to bring him in is a big hurdle.
