Rafiu Durosinmi, a Nigerian striker, married his Belgian-Nigerian fiancée, Praise Nwanegbo, over the weekend. He left the Super Eagles camp to attend his wedding, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Durosinmi departed the team in Warsaw after playing in the 2-2 draw against Poland last Wednesday.
The forward was initially called up for the Unity Cup matches in London. But he traveled with the team to Warsaw because coach Eric Chelle had some key players drop out. Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman were among those who withdrew.
He played 45 minutes in the match against Poland, marking his third appearance for Nigeria.
After the game, he went home for his wedding ceremony. This important event meant he could not stay with the team as they moved from Poland to Portugal for their next training.
Durosinmi was one of the new players chosen by Chelle for the 2026 Unity Cup in London. He made his senior debut against Zimbabwe at The Valley. He came on in the second half as Nigeria won comfortably, 2-0.
His strong performance earned him a spot in the starting line-up for the Unity Cup final against Jamaica. Partnering with captain Terem Moffi in attack, Durosinmi helped Nigeria dominate the match.
The Super Eagles won the final 3-0, successfully keeping the Unity Cup trophy.
