Young Nigerian winger Suleman Sani has made a surprising switch to Saudi Pro League club Al-Qadsiah after his short time at German Bundesliga team RB Leipzig.
The 20-year-old Nigeria youth international leaves Leipzig without playing a single match. He joined the German club from Slovakian team AS Trenčín in January and spent barely eight months there.
Reports from Sky, as mentioned by Bild, say the transfer could be worth up to €8 million. Sani is expected to sign a three-year deal with an option for one more year. The transfer was finalized on the last day of Saudi Arabia's transfer window.
Sani started his senior career with Nigerian club Akwa United before moving to Europe to join Trenčín in September 2024. He quickly became one of the promising young forwards in Slovakia, scoring 16 goals and providing seven assists in 59 competitive matches.
His strong performances led to his move to Leipzig for around €5 million. The Bundesliga club gave him a long-term contract that runs until June 2031. But injuries and tough competition for spots in the attack kept him from getting into the first team.
During August, Sani trained with Leipzig's youth team. He was not included in the squad for the senior team's first Bundesliga game of the 2026/27 season. This showed how hard it was for him to find regular playing time in Germany.
Now, moving to Al-Qadsiah gives the winger a fresh chance to restart his career and get regular first-team action. Leipzig is also expected to make a profit from his exit, even though Sani did not play any competitive match for them.
