Justice Zaynab Bashir of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria has given a digital learning and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre to Martin Sanda Girls Science College in Paiko. This donation aims to boost digital skills and create more educational chances for girls.
The centre is set up to help with ICT-based teaching and learning. It will give students the chance to learn digital skills that can prepare them for jobs in a world where technology is everywhere.
The project also included fixing up classroom blocks in the school.
At the inauguration of the project, Justice Bashir said this was her way of helping to ensure girls have better access to quality education. She wants to empower young women with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in today’s economy.
Justice Bashir called education a powerful tool that can change lives and communities. She hopes this new facility will encourage students to strive for excellence in science, technology, and innovation.
She urged the students to use the centre well by embracing digital learning, innovation, and creativity. She pointed out that investing in girls’ education is one of the best ways to build stronger families, communities, and the nation.
Justice Bashir also asked other well-off Nigerians to support public schools and help the government improve access to quality education.
She thanked Niger State Governor Mohammed Bago for creating a supportive environment for education. She noted that his administration’s backing for public education inspired her to carry out this project.
In his speech during the ICT centre inauguration, Governor Bago praised Justice Bashir, who is from Paiko, for investing in the future of young girls through education.
He called the project a patriotic act that supports the state government's efforts to modernize public schools and improve access to quality education.
Governor Bago announced that the state government will build a perimeter fence, a science lab, and a sports complex for the school to further enhance teaching and learning.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to boosting science and technology education throughout Niger State.
Mr Bago also urged parents in Paiko and nearby communities to encourage their children, especially girls, to consider careers in medicine and other health fields. He said this investment in human capital would help the state’s long-term healthcare goals.
Former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Zubairu Dada, Chairman of Paikoro Local Government Area Aminu Yandai, and Umar Nasir, who represents Paikoro Constituency in the Niger State House of Assembly, praised Justice Bashir for her efforts. They also commended Governor Bago for continuing to invest in education and infrastructure across the state.
