Monaco is ready to end Paul Pogba's contract. Talks about an early termination are already happening.
Pogba joined the Ligue 1 club last summer on a two-year deal. He returned to football after an 18-month doping ban.
His first season at Monaco was filled with injuries, which cut down his playing time. Fans hoped he would play more this season.
But with Filipe Luis now the new manager, replacing Sébastien Pocognoli, there might be changes in how the team plans its midfield.
Fabrizio Romano shared on X on Wednesday, "AS Monaco offer contract termination to Paul Pogba. Club want to mutually terminate his deal by September 1st to let Paul find a new club this year. Decision up to Pogba (now injured) but AS Monaco informed his camp."
Pogba first received a four-year ban after he tested positive for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) in August 2023. He claimed the positive test was an accident. He said he took a supplement without knowing it had the banned substance.
Later, the Court of Arbitration for Sport cut his suspension to 18 months. This allows him to return to professional football in March 2025.
If they finalize the agreement, Pogba’s time at Monaco will end early. This will leave the 2018 World Cup winner to think about what to do next.
